Good oral health is one of the main pillars of general health and well-being and World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is celebrated globally in March every year to promote this message.

The World Dental Federation’s definition of oral health is that it is multi-faceted and includes the ability to speak, smile, smell, taste, chew, swallow and convey a range of emotions through facial expressions with confidence and without pain, discomfort and disease of the craniofacial complex (the craniofacial complex comprises the head, face, and oral cavity).1

What is a tincture? A look at their benefits and uses

Tinctures are concentrated liquid herbal extracts. The plant part that is used can vary from plant to plant (e.g. some will be bark, some root, some seed, some leaf, some fruit or just flower). Some tinctures use a combination of plant parts.

Tinctures have long been revered for their health benefits. We recently launched our own range and so to celebrate, this week’s blog looks at the uses and benefits of each one.

Gastric viruses

In July, it was reported that due to the easing of restrictions following the Covid19 pandemic, gastric viruses such as norovirus, which have been supressed due to social distancing, may become a  significant issue this winter, with numbers already increasing. Human noroviruses in the family Caliciviridae are a major cause of epidemic gastroenteritis, and pre-pandemic they were responsible for at least 95% of viral outbreaks and over 50% of all outbreaks worldwide. Norovirus infections can sweep through families and communities. They are especially likely to spread among people in confined spaces, causing fever, vomiting, diarrhoea and gastritis. In most cases, you pick up the virus from contaminated food or water, although person-to-person transmission also is possible.
